Hair removal
The diode lasers represent the most advanced technologies for hair removal. The wavelength enables high absorption of light radiation in melanin and low absorption in water. This guarantees selective and safe treatment without risk of side effects. At the same time, it is possible to treat dark skin types with low risk. For larger areas, the SmoothPulse treatment mode can be used, so that even for sensitive patients the laser pulses are hardly noticeable.

Hair removal uses the energy of light to prevent hair regrowth. In this process, the light must penetrate several millimeters into the skin to reach the hair root as well. When it hits the melanin of the hair, it is absorbed and converted into heat. The heat is stronger the darker, thicker and denser the hair is. The thermal damage thus caused to the cells in the hair and in the immediate hair environment, which are responsible for hair regrowth, results in a drastic reduction of hair in the treated area.
At the same time, it is necessary to ensure that the high power is sufficiently cooled. Therefore, Asclepion’s systems are equipped with an efficient, integrated skin cooling, which always cools the top layer of skin before the light pulse and, in addition to protecting the epidermis, makes the treatment more comfortable.
Treatments with lasers are gentle on the skin and remove troublesome skin lesions very effectively and in a matter of minutes. An ablative laser works very precisely and can remove targeted areas of skin to a predefined depth with little pain. At the same time, the renewal of the skin is stimulated.
After treatment, it usually takes only a few days for the wound to heal. It is recommended to protect the treated area from sunlight or high altitude sun for at least 10 / 15 days before/after the treatment. In summer and generally when the treated areas (e.g. face) are exposed to sunlight, it is recommended to use a sunscreen.
Studies show that ablative lasers can also be used very effectively for the treatment of scars, such as acne scars, and for skin rejuvenation. Success results from highly precise ablation of tissue during treatment, smoothing and leveling of tissue differences during wound healing and collagen regeneration during the first year after treatment.

Skin rejuvenation
Anti-aging treatments now account for around 50% of all aesthetic treatments. In medicine, there are numerous methods, including various surgical procedures. However, many patients prefer less invasive methods. The demand for such non-invasive methods to effectively improve skin structure without downtime is strongly increasing. Lasers offer various options here according to patients’ needs. Lasers with different wavelengths and pulse lengths have become established for skin rejuvenation.

While wrinkles can be reduced well with the help of ablative lasers, there are a variety of other dermatological problems – for example pigmentation disorders, sun damage, acne or coarse-pored skin – that affect the complexion and can be treated with a diode laser. This enables heating of the epidermis with the 810 nm wavelength, which stimulates collagen production, increases metabolism and improves the appearance of the skin (tightening of the skin, reduction of pore size), lightening of pigmentation and reduction of small wrinkles.
Pico and Nano lasers are used for non-invasive, painless treatment of wrinkles, lines, scars and dyschromias. The lasers emit ultra-short energy pulses and creates a photomechanical effect. This shatters pigments into tiny particles that the body can more easily break down through the lymphatic system. In addition to depigmentation, the laser also penetrates deeper layers of the skin and stimulates collagen and elastin formation, resulting in skin renewal and improving skin texture. The sensitive face, eye, neck and décolleté areas as well as the backs of the hands can be treated particularly gently and effectively.
A rarer and more severe disease is acne inversa. It is a disease of the skin appendages. It originates from the sebaceous glands and secondarily affects the apocrine sweat glands. Predilection sites are especially axillae and inguinal-genital region, also extending gluteally. The back and abdomen are less frequently affected, and only very rarely, the otherwise typical acne regions such as the face.
Acne treatment
Treatment used to consist of repeated antibiotic and antiseptic treatment or further aggressive procedures. Disadvantages of this approach are the returning recurrences, repeated surgical procedures, pain, other side effects and psychological stress. Laser treatment with a diode laser offers a great alternative. Similar to hair removal, the infrared laser radiation penetrates deep enough into the skin to reach the sebaceous follicles. The porphyrin-forming bacteria and fungi that are the causes of acne are destroyed during this procedure.

Scar treatment
The ablative lasers remove individual skin layers with the highest precision and can be used to smooth scars thanks to fractional technology, just like the innovative picolasers with fractional handpiece. MicroSpot technology optimised treatment results, as only partial areas are treated, thus accelerating wound healing. It is used to stimulate skin renewal and collagen formation without damaging the surrounding tissue. The result after only a few sessions is a flattening of the scar edges, a visible improvement of the skin structure as well as the scar colour, which becomes lighter.

Scars can be very annoying and many would like to live without this blemish. There are many different types of scars, which can have different causes (e.g. acne scars, surgical scars, etc.). According to the type of scar, there are appropriate treatment options. Laser treatment is a non-invasive, modern therapy that achieves excellent results without the discomfort and downtime of surgical solutions.
A special type is the treatment of striae distensae, also known as stretch marks. These scars are caused by the excessive stretching of linear bands of atrophic or wrinkled skin, for example after rapid weight loss/gain, growth during puberty or pregnancy. In its early stage, it presents skin inflammation with dilated capillaries, leading to an inflammatory appearance. In the final stage, striae appear hypopigmented and fibrotic due to linear deposition of dermal bundles and thinning of the overlying epidermis.
The result of laser treatment is flattening of scar edges, visible improvement of skin structure and scar colour, which becomes lighter.
During the treatment of vascular lesions, the laser radiation penetrates the skin and is absorbed by the haemoglobin in the blood: the blood is strongly heated. This leads to inflammation of the inside of the blood vessel and adhesion of the vessel. The result is an occlusion of the vessel. Depending on the size of the vessel, this takes a longer time (large vessels) or a shorter time (small vessels), up to a few months for deep blue vessels.
For small ecstatic vessels, which are usually red and superficial, the use of a yellow or green laser is recommended, since yellow and green are strongly absorbed by the blood. On the other hand, water absorption is very low. Normal skin contains a lot of water, so the bloodless tissue stays cold, and the surrounding tissue is not damaged. For dark and deeper vessels (bluish), infrared laser radiation is more effective because its penetration depth is higher.
Vascular treatment
Lasers with a wavelength of 577 and 532 nm are particularly suitable for the treatment of fine superficial vessels, such as those often found in the face. For larger dilated vessels, which are usually also deeper in the skin (e.g. spider veins), lasers with a particularly long wavelength or dye lasers are suitable. Due to the higher penetration depth, lasers with an infrared wavelength are very well suited for the coagulation of spider veins.

Tattoo removal
For over 20 years, Asclepion nano-lasers with different wavelengths have been used to remove tattoos. Compared to other procedures, this treatment method is characterized by the very low risk of scarring. Since some years, there is the more modern Pico technology, which further optimizes the treatment results and allows fewer treatment sessions.

The type of laser determines which pigments of which colour can be treated particularly well, and which colour is less responsive to treatment. Ruby lasers (694 nm) have proven to be universally applicable in practice. This wavelength is strongly absorbed by green colour pigments and generally by dark colours. The light of the Nd:YAG laser (532; 1064 nm) is very well absorbed by red, blue as well as dark colours.
The wavelength of the ruby or Nd:YAG laser light is specifically absorbed by the colour pigments of the tattoo. Due to the transmitted energy, encapsulated colour particles are abruptly fragmented from the connective tissue capsules. Subsequently, the fragmented particles are broken down epidermally and lymphatically. The irradiated skin area appears whitish for 10 – 20 min immediately after treatment. After that, light scabs will form for about 1 – 2 weeks. To remove the tattoo, usually a few sessions are needed at intervals of several weeks. Patients usually tolerate laser treatment without anaesthesia, only in individual cases superficial anaesthesia is used.
There are many types of pigmented skin lesions, but they differ fundamentally among themselves in their morphological and histological characteristics. Benign pigmented lesions such as lentigo simplex, lentio senilis (age or sun spots) and many other types of nevi can be treated with pico- and nano-lasers. They emit short pulses of light that are selectively absorbed by the skin pigment melanin due to their wavelength. The transmitted energy abruptly fragments encapsulated pigment particles from the connective tissue capsules.
Subsequently, the fragmented particles are broken down epidermally and lymphatically. Immediately after the laser treatment, the irradiated skin area appears whitish for 10 – 20 min. After that, a light scab will form for about 1 – 2 weeks. The laser treatment itself is uncomplicated and is usually performed on an outpatient basis with or without superficial anaesthesia.
Pigment removal
Depending on the type of pigmentation, different lasers can be used. Pico and Nano lasers have proven to be universally applicable in practice. Due to the strong absorption of the laser light by the skin pigment melanin and the short pulses, they are particularly well suited for the treatment of natural pigmented lesions. However, pigmented lesions can also be treated with ablative lasers. Here, a distinction is made between “cold ablation” (Er:YAG) and vaporization (KTP/LBO/HOPSL).

Intravaginal therapy
Many women experience bothersome symptoms such as itching in the genital area, irritation, low vaginal moisture and even pain during sexual intercourse. All these symptoms are common in women of different ages, and they tend to worsen over time. This means these symptoms are not temporary. A new treatment option is Juliet laser treatment using an Erbium:YAG laser. It represents a quick, painless and discreet treatment with very low risk of side effects and minimal downtime. The main mechanism of the laser technology is selective stimulation of collagen synthesis in the submucosa, resulting in tissue improvement and its restoration to its original metabolism.
Vaginal relaxation syndrome (VRS) is the impairment of the optimal structural composition of the vagina. This is generally associated with the aging process and is particularly caused by childbirth. As vaginal relaxation develops, the vaginal skin loosens, resulting in decreased tone, strength, control and support. This often leads to feelings of decreased tone and impaired sexual satisfaction.
Stress incontinence is a form of urinary incontinence caused by loss of supportive hold of the urethra, usually the result of damage to the supporting structures in the pelvic area after childbirth. It is characterised by leakage of small amounts of urine during physical activities that increase abdominal pressure, such as coughing, sneezing, and lifting. In addition, frequent, physically demanding exercise and activities can lead to the development of sports incontinence.
Finally, there is a number of symptoms experienced by menopausal women, including vaginal dryness, itching, pain during intercourse, decreased libido and decreased elasticity and tone of the vagina. This condition is also described as vaginal atrophy, in which there is a reduction in the production of oestrogen by the ovaries. It involves the gradual thinning of the genital epithelial tissue, the vaginal mucosa, which reduces its thickness and decreases its functionality.
Snoring occurs as a result of slackening of the uvula and soft palate. These tissues can slacken to the point of blocking the airway, resulting in irregular airflow and vibration. Snoring can be caused by one or more of the following: Flaccid throat muscles (which close during sleep), obesity, obstructions in the nasal passage, enlarged tonsils and adenoids, obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA), relaxants such as alcohol or other medications.
The goal of Romeo® laser treatment is to strengthen the structure of the soft palate and uvula. This is achieved through a fractional method that creates microscopic damage to the mucosa. During the treatment, a high level of energy is applied at once. This strengthens the soft palate (a so-called “hypertrophy of the mucosa”) so that it is more stable during breathing, providing greater resistance to the unsteady flow of air during the night. The resulting greater resistance of the tissue to the flow of air, during the night, causes a reduction in sleep noise. More than 50% of patients and their bed partners report an extraordinary reduction in snoring.
Snoring therapy
There are numerous treatments for snoring; however, objective results are sparse. Non-surgical options (splints, braces, nasal patches, CPAP masks, palate implants, and decongestants) require regular use and are not always as effective as expected. Surgical treatments are often not desired due to their invasiveness. The non-invasive ROMEO® treatment uses the world-renowned Er:YAG Dermablate laser system. It applies the same principles known for subablative, fractional treatments commonly used in the face for skin resurfacing and now in gynaecology for the treatment of vaginal atrophy and stress incontinence.
FMS technology creates supramaximal contractions for deeper muscle stimulation. This improves muscle tone and elicits a strong metabolic response that stimulates fat reduction. Fat reduction brings many benefits, including minimising health risks such as type 2 diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, strokes.
During the treatment, the patient’s muscles are stimulated with supramaximal contractions (up to 2.5 Tesla), thereby increasing the metabolism and prompting significant fat reduction. The technology works on many areas of the body such as the abdomen, buttocks, hips, legs and arms.
Body shaping
FMS (Focused Magnetic Stimulation) technology creates an electromagnetic field that causes supramaximal stimulation of the muscles. More muscle tone as well as toning are the main goals of the treatment, and localised fat is also reduced. At the same time, the muscle treatment has a positive effect on posture.
